Does it not shift at all or just shift at abnormally high RPMs? I had a faulty output speed sensor cause that on my ZJ way back when

really the problem is down shifting because originally when i noticed it i could barely take off from a stop sign because it didnt down shift from 3rd. but then after washing it the other day i drove it around town and it was shifting through all gears just seemed to still have a little down shift issue as it would some times wait untill i started to take off from a stop for it do down shift

It may/may not. Early 93s had the AW4, late model 93s had the 42RE. You can tell by the shift patter inside. If it's 1 2 D N R, it's a 42RE, if its 1-2 3 D N R it's an AW4
