Default Experience with 6.5L TD

Hello, i am currently in the market for a new truck. I have found a 1999 k2500 with a 6.5TD for sale. I haven't talked to much about it with the guy, but would like to get your guys opinion. I know the topic of 6.5/6.2 chevys has been talked about on a number of different forums. The thing is, i am not looking for a truck that hauls a crap load. I just want a daily driver. That is why i have been looking for a 6.5L. They get decent MPG and they seem to be reliable (That is what we are discussing here)

For current/previous owners of 6.5L (1995+). What have you seen MPG wise? Are there parts that you have had to replace more than you should have? What kind of performace modifications have you done?

Thanks

most common issue with 6.5L diesesl is the PMD on the pump. best modificaton is to remove it... or get another one, purchase a jumper harness and mount it on a heat absorbing plate and mount it on the back side of the front bumper to keep it cool.
Second most common failure is the electric lift pump (on frame under driver) that pushes fuel to injection pump.

Sorry, mine is a third vehicle for towing my jeep/boat etc so never used it as a daily driver. my guess is close to 20 mpg.
