So I attempted to wire my fans last night

*Weird I'm kinda leery of messing with them now*

(Previous setup)
One fan is wired to a switch in the cab, other is wired direct to battery with a reostat inline that controls when it turns on and off via a probe in the radiator.

New idea
Cut the main lead on the switch fan and hook to the main power for the reostat. This should give me the ability to turn on and off both fans.

Correct?

That was my thoughts but the truck hit about 200 last night and the second fan had not kicked on yet I could not reach the reostat to try to play with the temp sensor on it as it was pouring down rain and 12:00 a.m.

So you are running the power to the switch through the reostat? Then both fans off the switch. So if you turn the switch on it won't get power until the stat reaches temp and puts power to the switch.

That's the thought I'm thinking that the thermostat didn't open last night. We'll see how it does in canada worst case I can wire the fan direct for this weekend and just pull the fuse.

If it is wired like I said both fans should come on at the same time. Only one switch correct

Correct.

The way I have it wired is like this.

Sorry just re read your post, this is how it's currently wired.

This should make it so the passenger side fan turns on first. And once the radiator heats up it will kick on the second fan automatically.

I think

Wasn't the stat all jacked up from using a gerber on it or something? Wire one of them to come on with key on and the other on a switch. If it doesn't stay cool with one, wire them both to come on with key on. Use relays, not direct wiring

pull the relay if you need to or wire a switch inline with your key on power

Damn beefy!
I remember when you first lifted this truck and every one was Guiving you a load of crap.
It turned into a nice truggy!
Not pretty by any means but it doesn't need to be.
Very nicely done.
