The driver fell over like a dummy in a store! He didn't look like he even tried to break his fall.

Video 1. Holy crap that was crazy. Indeed driver guy fell like a sack of potatoes. What was he doing with the throttle?

Video 2. I wish I could get that 5 minutes of my life back. Those cops had super high patience that's for sure.

The two things i thought of:

1. They had to be sore the next day
2. The boobies didn't free themselves

surprising as hell the cops didn't put her in the back seat of their car. drunk as she was she might have wandered out into traffic.

as for the boat.....why didn't the pilot slow down? the way he took a dive he was likely under the influence also

I figured he had the lanyard since it stoped so quick, but I don't have sound on my comp to tell.

Proof that not all people that own a go fast boat should own a go fast boat.

having a boat hook like that in the rough is not uncommon. it can happen to any one.

Apparently not everyone knows how to handle it though, or how to keep themselves out of situations like that. It looks like he ran into the wake of another boat, which is easily avoidable or safe if you know enough to slow the boat down or change the angle of attack so something like that doesn't happen. I've done it myself, once.

i do agree that he wasnt smart enough to not have a vest or lanyard on and advise the rest of the boat patrons of the danger.

Apparently you have never driven a fast offshore boat. You're talking about a boat capable of running 70+ mph over 3-4 foot waves.

When I had my boat I routinely ran over 80 mph in 1-3 foot waves, I never had a serious hook, but I did land on the boatside at least 3 times I vividly remember, I had one minor hook I vividly remember, and I do remember hitting a wave/hole I didn't see that i thought I was going to blow over straight back wards because of. You can not always stop it from happening.

It didn't appear to me in the video that he was running much more than 45-50 mph.

fsumotorhead, it's possible he did have a lanyard on, though I don't see one. however, there are some throttles that do return to idle when released which is another possiblity.

I'll repeat, the only things I see wrong are that he was not wearing a pfd, or lanyard, and his body language looked a bit drunk.
