amc 20 pinion issues

need some help jeep experts.trying to install new gears in dana 30 and amc 20.been doing these for 35 years(disabled, but havent quit).problem is,all bearings will press on ,with no issue.front pinion will not even clear race area.gear manufacture tells me ,now you have to hammer front pinion bearing one.if this is true, please tell me how you can set specs on pinion depth, gear mesh, when the pinion is jambed on from hammering.(i did not hamer on guys, just know outcome)when i mic out the pinion race it mics at 1.317,the bearing mics at 1.310.can not oslide smaller bearing on larger race.tried timken, same measurement,no fit.has any one else run into this.thanks guys.
