really any of the big bores are not for plinking all ammo is pretty $$$$$ a few sight in shots and then just ammo you use to take down what you want.

i side with the .50 beo because i have fired it. never messed with any of the other big boys.

a .50BMG would be sweet but you are limited to 1 shot.....humm time to get with my buddys who work with CNC machines and make a lower to take a barret magazine :)

really? you mean if I took a .458 bullet mold, cast some lead bullets, gas checked the bullets, loaded them to 45/70 speeds that it would be expensive to shoot? you can buy a magazine fed 50 bmg upper, but 50 bmg is fucking useless.

if you cast your own bullets that is a diff story. but the OP has told us he does not reload and is stuck buying factory.

why is .50BMG useless? you could put a hog down at 2 miles with a .50 BMG

why are you always so mad stevo?

I doubt you could hit one at 500. 338 LM is a superior cartridge. 50 BMG is the same as desert eagles, BDMTs and any titty over a DD. Useless. In military applications its different.

I love 50 bmg. I am going to own a Ma Deuce someday. I hate idiots who think 50 bmg is the pinnacle of cartridge evolution.

while the brand new .338 round may fly flatter. the .50BMG has been around the block since 1921! half inch of 661 grains of lead. yeah that will ruin a hogs day. or anything else.

im not saying its the pinnacle of evolution. clearly it works its been around since 1921. its tryed and true.

Once you grow up and get big boy guns you will understand what I mean. During a good month in wyoming last summer I was shooting 500-1000 rounds of belted magnum ammo a month. thats a lot of money in ammo even reloading. reloading match quality 300 wm and 7mm rem mag costs about 3$ each, 338 lm is around 4$ each and 50 bmg is around 5. I have shot my boss'd 7mm rem 250 times in a day, it punishes you. try doing that with a 50 bmg.

Actually if your thinking the desert eagle 50 thats a 50AE not a 50BMG . 50BMG would be one hell of a hand cannon .

Steveo said that .50 BMG was stupid, like desert eagles, bdmts, etc.

Nowhere did he say that desert eagles fire .50 bmg. Even his fat, no good, irreverent, disrespectful, arrogant, stupid ass wouldn't screw that up.

I'm not too familiar with the 458, so my vote is 450 Bushmaster or. 30 RAR.

After reading over everything, .458 is the winning ticket in my opinion. Only real question is Wilson combat or rock river arms?
