Unfortunately in the parts business the wage for counter people is not where it should be for what is required. The knowledge and ability to be a great counter person should pay $20 an hour or more, yet I have never met a counter person that makes that kind of money, without being in management or have an increased level of responsibility.

The good thing is that within the industry if you want to move up to management (and can handle the workload and stress) the opportunities are out there and you could be moving up within a relatively short time period, and within the corp stores you have lots of options for promotions if you work hard at it and someone knows what you are looking to do.

This I like. As of now the only place for me to go up is to open my own business, but then I'm still stuck turning wrenches.

So I made a follow up call today to see if any decision had been made. Turns out the manager no longer works for them anymore. Wtf.

Cool!

Maybe contact one of the other stores, ask to speak with the new manager or maybe a district manager.

How cool is it? Now my interview and relationship with him are out the door. Any new management won't know who I am from jack.
