my cruise stopped working, then I started getting these faint beeps from under the dash, and then the speedo started jumping all over the place, and then the OD "off" light on the shifter started blinking......and then....everything went back to normal.
A few people suggested speed sensor, but it looks like there are more than one? (not sure I just checked rock auto breifly but they looked different).
How do I know which one to replace? Even better, since there are no check engine lights can it be scanned to determine if that is truely the problem?
My 00 250 did something similar to that with the speedo going crazy, I only have the speed sensor in the rear diff. I have a manual trans. I replaced it and problem solved.
Hmm, I just got an autozone part because I knew I had only one sensor. It asked a few basic questions. If you have ABS that's a different part number I believe.
unplug it and see if your speedo works. It won't. Schedule 4 hours to replace sensor in your garage. Drink a beer, grab one socket, replace sensor, contnue drinking beer for 3.5 hours.
yeah the speedo was dancing all over. Started at about west branch, and by the time I got to petoskey the speedo wasn't even working at all just fluttering all over. Got in the truck to come home and the OD Off light blinked for about 10 minutes, then it stopped blinking and everything went back to normal from petoskey all the way back home to fenton. The truck drove as normal the entire time, even when the speedo was acting wonky. Haven't driven the truck since.
Bought the sensor and replaced this morning. we'll assume this will fix it.
My speedo was jumping all over the place and then stopped all together about a week ago. I replaced the sensor in the diff and it still jumps around or doesn't work. '00 6 speed. I think I may have some wire issues under the truck with this and my esof though.
jump the sensor to a multi-meter and have a friend spin the rear tires or put the truck into drive (back tires off the ground obviously), you should get a fairly smooth voltage signal. if not then sensor/trigger wheel, if you do get a smooth voltage signal then its wiring or something else in the circuit.
