Default Daily Driver gear/tire question???? PLEASE

My I6 F-150 got totaled so its time to upgrade. I found two trucks both 96 one with the 5.0 302 and one with the 5.8 351. Im doing a 6" suspension and possibly a 2" body (still on the fence about that). I will be running 35s and this will be a Daily driver mostly pavement pounder.

My question is what motor would be better for a daily driver. From what i have read i'm going to have to re-gear either way. A little foolin around when i go hunting lol

.................Im also tempted to run 37's since i need to buy new tires either way. Not sure

I've not heard good things about 351 mileage. What transmission do the trucks have?

Go with the Windsor. Mileage should be negligible.

The 302 is a turd in the F150s. Go with the 5.8. If you're worried about MPGs maybe you shouldn't be DDing a truck with 6-8" of lift and 35-37" tall tires

Good advice....they are BOTH "Windsor" engines.

Might as well get go with the 5.8L though. You'll get similar mileage with either engine, but at least the larger displacement justifies the consumption with the power output. The 302 is underpowered for 4x4 trucks and loses much efficiency because of it.

Gear for the road and use Low range if needed off road.
