Woodward 2012

Went down Woodward last night. Saw some nice Jeeps and lifted trucks, a sweet Bronco and a Willys Wagon.

Lots of really nice old hot rods and classic cars and this year seemed to be even more of the old pickups out.

Took the Granddaughter and wife for a ride in the 49, good evening.

I've been trying to head over there, I've just been too busy in the evenings. If it doesn't rain tonight, I am going to head over for a little bit I think. It's more fun to go during the week than on the actual day, since there is less people and you can actually cruise, not just sit in traffic.

I'm waiting until I get my 68 on the road, don't want to be the douche in a late model.

Heading down Friday for the Berkley Cruisefest. No car of my own, riding with dad in his yellow 66 Dodge Coronet or my mother's cousin in his black Marauder. He drove that thing all the way from AZ last week, listening to the 460 suck fuel every second!

After going there year after year and seeing it shut down at 9:00pm, we no longer bother. It's gotten rather redundant.

I hate the Dream Cruise. Try living in the area and wanting to go to any of the stores along Woodward (or right off of it) any evening the week leading up to the actual event. I will say that the pre-cruise crowds seemed down this year - generally, the rednecks are out there watching the cars cruise starting around the first of July, I think the police in most of the communities tried to put a stop to that this year. But it's still a mess. I live about a mile and a half off of Woodward, just west of downtown Birmingham, and I can smell the fumes and hear the exhaust all the way at my house.

My friends and I have been going down every saturday night for about 2 months now just to hangout. We sit at 13 mile and woodward and last night was the most packed it has been yet! I am sure they will have more and more people every day down there. I plan on being down there every night for the rest of the week!

Oh and the cops started to take it down to one lane at about 10:15 last night and opened it up at about 11

I agree with WSU JK. My grandpa lives right off of woodward between 14 and 15. It's a total mess trying to see him.

So fucking move, more than likely it was going on before you moved there.

I went down Tuesday on my Harley, it was rather busy and nice to see some cool cars. But after that it's just a parking lot with douche nozzles in new cars taking pictures so I don't go after that.

I thought the crowds were down a bit myself. Only go during the week prior, no way on Saturday of the event itself (teaching that day anyway).

Like the people who bitch about the crowds, they have been cruising long before they moved in, move back out or find a different route to where you want to go. Knowing it is cruise time, why would you plan to go to Woodward for a 'daily' trip?

Might go to Flint on Saturday after class, see how things go. Haven't been to that yet.

I think you should quit your crying. It's one fucking week out of the year. My folks live just north of Pine Knob (DTE for you young punks) and they have to deal with concert traffic EVERY FUCKING NIGHT ALL SUMMER LONG. I try to go visit my folks after work and I end up having to take a detour every time. Get over it. Then there's the folks that have to deal with pro sports games at the Palace and downtown. (downtown not so much) And then there's the people who have their homes bothered by city festivals throughout the year.

The Dream Cruise brings tons of money to the local business's and it's one of the coolest car events anywhere in the country. Instead of complaining, maybe you should try enjoying it.

Again, it's only one week out of your precious year.

You'd rather be the douche in the 68?

I work next door to the palace, and I drive by pine knob on my way home. People who complain about woodward traffic bring the LOL

Woodward cruise was pretty sweet in 1995, when it was classic cars. Now it's full of jeeps and cars on dubs.. Not worth driving down to anymore.

If I want to see jeeps, I'll go to an offroad event. If I want to see dubs and stereos, I'll drive to the city. Now there is no place to see classic cars rolling around.
