Default Explorer driver side hub growling.....

Wondering if anyone elsehas heard of this. 2005 Explorer 7500 miles 4.0 engine auto. First time in real snow and using 4x4. Pulled into driveway and smelled like something was burning. Later I realized that when ever the 4x4 auto kicks in the driver side wheel you hear it grinding or growling as it is being put under load? Want to get an idea before I bring it into the stealership for warranty repair.

The Explorer uses a center disconnect system for its 4wd and thus the hubs are always locked. Seems strange you would geta noise only in 4wd from the drivers side front. You got warranty, so why bother diagnosing? Let them worry.

Yep get as much stuff fixed under warranty as possible, and buy the extended one if you can....these new Explorers have their problems. I've been through 4 rear bearings after warranty, plus a rear diff that is about ready to explode.....$1500 for dealer to fix.
