I could reply with both "true story" and "something like that"

Default TC Waterman

OK, TC Waterman will be Aug 18 in Traverse City - another opportunity for anyone who wants to come out and see what the sport is all about, talk to some local vendors, try some boards out, etc.

I'll be racing the 3 mile race again - hoping to be doing it on a Hovie race board this time and paddling for Paddle The Mitten.

depends on the board, # of turns, and a lot on the wind....

First time I paddled 3 + some miles was on calm waters and was a straight shot and I actually had a very inefficient terrible technique (was still learning) and I did that in 53 minutes (I bet I could have done it in about 45 if I would have had a better stroke). At the Detroit SUP race it was 3 miles, 11 turns, pretty healthy breeze making for our longest stretches of the course to be into the wind, and sharing the course with others, I did that in 57 minutes. Some of the faster times were around 45-50 minutes some longer times were 1 hr 20 min or so (including all divisions, all genders, all ages).

But then the fastest time for the Elite group, 6 mile race was 1:09 with very similar conditions!

Linda at Paddle The Mitten just said starting Friday and for 4 days only she's offering discounts on some of her boards. So go to Facebook and search Paddle the Mitten and inquire about it for those who were asking about boards earlier on in this thread.
