The "Fawk Yeah Buggy"

Yep, I was really concerned with the new untested steering going into MI with only minutes of use on the steering. While I did run into a issue early it was an easy fix. Was able to keep it going till after the end of MI and back into the quarry at the park.
Nothing like flogging it and hearing beefy say in the background "why hasn't it broke yet" .Some more pics courtsey of Jeepezrcreeperz ![]() I really wanted this, but it was just to early in the day. I wish we could of gone back to it at the end. I really think I could of got it if I pushed just a little harder on it. ![]() ![]()

Got the broken shaft out. Welded a bolt to the end of it and used my slide hammer with vise grip attachment to slide it out. As jeeperzcreeperz pointed out in the campground Saturday, that exact spot where it snapped has a very small nick in the shaft. Weather it is a deformation in the shaft itself or at some point in its 30 yrs it got nicked. Must of aided in the shaft failing the way it did.

I was wrong, I must have a pickup, older then 87, 14b. KyleM had a spare that fit and got me back on the trail so we could go to R&V today....
Aside from alot more body damage, and almost rolling backwards up a hill it was a great time. ![]() ![]() I spent probably 15-20 minutes working this hole in the valley, it was washed out deeper then my hood and was under cut. What started as lets pull up to it and look closer became a mission to get it. I really wish I could of got a pic of what it looked like before we started chewing it up. I really need to get a gopro. ![]()

Went to R & V to support the club in the comp (did not compete this year). Then wheeled on Sunday.
Trying the mud wall on the adventure trail, followed an attempt by a rig on 42's didn't work out in my favor. Ended up having to winch up the hill. Which led to a melted positive connection at my battery (only melted the universal top post connecter). But later noticed my battery is now swelled up like a balloon. Which later led to a little acid getting pushed out the vent and landed on my heater hose. Which of course developed a leak later on, but was an easy fix. Also I am pretty sure my tree saver got left around the tree at the top of that hill .Then near the end of the day I was just attempting undertaker when I blew the hose that attached my pump to the orbital and the power steering fluid shot on to the manifold and caught fire. Thankfully I keep a fire extinguisher real handy and was able to put it out quickly before it could spread. While fixing that Tonka Toy notice the welds were broke on my d60 axle tube to housing on the right side. Must of happened between mission impossible and yesterday. Third time this tube has spun. I was gonna compete in the put trash shoot out in a couple weeks but not gonna rush it now. Time to do what I was planning on doing, just sooner. Time for version eb2. |
