No way am I giving up my morning Biggby Coffee or Starbucks. I need my daily dose of diabetes in a cup!

As for Walmart and all that other crap, I haven't set foot in one in years, go to Meijer maybe 3 or 4 times a year and Target about the same. I already grow quite a bit of my veggies (and what I don't/cannot grow I can get from my parents or brother, including eggs) and do a bit of canning. The few times my wife and I go out to dinner (not as easy or enjoyable to do with a toddler), we generally go to locally-owned businesses. Today, I'm wearing shoes, pants, underpants, socks, shirt, and a sport coat all made in the U.S.A. and purchased from a locally-owned shop.

I have no desire to cut the rest of that stuff out of my life.

Ridiculous true story.....
We lost power on the 4th for 12 hours. My wife and kids swore we were going to need to borrow a generator so that they could use their hair dryers and operate ceilings fans........o.O

I simply had to walk into our basement, unfold my camping cot and went to bed......while my wife and daughter bickered about going to g-ma's for electricity.

Only if JD isn't American made.

It comes down to how lazy a lot of us have become. We are basically enslaving ourselves to doom.
There will only be a few of us left that can actually survive without someone bailing us out of stupidity.
In the past most everyones home was their castle. Clean, tidy, and organized. On a moments notice ready to handle entertaining, working on a project, or simply a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Now in most cases it is a storage unit with a kitchen and bath.......

The prices for American-made clothing are generally higher than the junk you will get at Macy's or some other department store, but since I made a concerted effort to start buying more American-made clothing a few years ago I can see a HUGE difference in the quality of the clothing. And these days, 95% of the stuff I have that isn't made in the U.S. is made in Canada, the U.K., Japan, or Germany. These are countries (along with some other ones out there) where you are generally assured that the workers are being paid a living wage and are employed in conditions that would not raise an eyebrow here.

Where do I actually buy my clothes?
There are two stores in Birmingham that have a very good selection of American-made clothing: The Claymore Shop and Carl Sterr. Both have great service but the Claymore Shop has a wider range of prices. My shoes for the office come from Alden, my casual shoes come from Rancourt, and I have a few pair of work boots (Chippewa, Red Wing). If you want a pair of khakis/chinos that will last a lot longer and fit much nicer than a pair of Dockers, Claymore carries Bill's Khakis which are made in Pennsylvania out of cotton still grown here in the U.S.A. If the price is too steep, all of the pants that the online store Bonobos carries are made here, but of imported cotton.

Besides those places, a lot of brands still have some items that are made here: Brooks Brothers (socks, ties, oxford cloth shirts, and some suits and sport coats), Filson (some of their coats and other outdoor gear), LL Bean, Levis's are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

I still think it would be awesome if everyone or the vast majority of people would cordinate a weeks vacation. stay at your home with your family dont go to the store dont turn on the TV or internet dont buy a single thing that is not absolutely tied to survival dont go anywhere... just relax for a week. It would be awesome to see what corperate America and the Government would do. Im sure it would send a pretty big

BTW have you been watching to much Mountain men..
And there is part of the problem. Rather than buying raw ingredients and preparing our own food, and knowing exactly what went into it, everyone wants to buy prepared food, and trust the corporation that sells it and the government to regulate what is in it. If you really want to know what you’re eating, make it yourself.

I highly doubt that would do a thing.
Now stop purchasing crap we don't really need(chainstore crap) and living better will make a huge impact that would have a substantially bigger grab of attention from our government.
Really think the government is going to bail out McDonalds?

In addition to what you are saying this only adds to the obesity problem and I am sure it is a huge cause of the new food allergies.

It would make them turn there head and say what the hell is happening. but it would never happen because only a small group of people would actually do it.
I agree with you 1000% on banning the BULL SHIT

Personally I think our grandparents generation had it right. everyones grandparents I ever met all had gardens they were all hard nosed Americans that were involved and stayed up on what was happening and they cared about each other their community and their neighbors.

Yes it is impossible for our current society to boycott everything, but we can boycott enough to make life better for everyone in the long run.
