While I didn't plan to hunt doves myself, I don't begrudge those that choose to do so. Where I hunt deer in OH, they have dove hunting fields planted.
What really aggravated me about this is that this was all about emotions. "Bird of peace", "not overpopulated", "only shot for target practice" with visuals of crippled birds flopping around on the ground.
If you don't want to hunt doves (deer, pheasants, coyotes, bears, grouse, rabbits, etc...) then don't. But stop forcing your beliefs on others.
x2 i find it funny that it is wrong to kill anything if i eat it. Even if i dont eat it is it anyworse than killing a mouse or cockroach if you want to get all buddhist monk about killing. I see no matter how small or big the bird its. I will likely never hunt doves anytime soon unless i had property with a large dove population. Certainly isnt high on my list of game to pursue.
But if thats a fun sport for you then i see no difference between it and fishing, deer hunting whatever.
