Default Maeve's (Mira's little sis') Jeep Cherokee build

After having a family discussion and playing our own "Cherokee Shell Game", we decided that Mira would apply all of her cool XJ parts accumulation to this clean '98 XJ Classic (build thread HERE), and that little sis Maeve (now 9 1/2 yrs. old) will take over Mira's former '93 2-door XJ.

Here's an excited Maeve sitting on her new-to-her '93 XJ, which is getting a "face lift" with a '97+ XJ front end. .

This is what we started with...a '93 XJ Sport 2-door. We have a set of straight, rust-free doors to replace the ones in this photo.

This is where it gets fun. A GIANT thanks to Doug (reptile610) for lining me up with a friend's wrecked '00 XJ Limited. Maeve is SUPER excited after seeing photos of this Jeep, which will be the donor for the entire drivetrain, interior, etc.

Donor vehicle specs include:
  • 4.0L/AW4 auto/NP-242 (145K miles)
  • BEAUTIFUL leather interior with power heated seats (driver heated seat doesn't work...we'll see if we can find out why)
  • OEM premium sound system
  • OEM overhead console

Maeve's XJ will likely get a HP D30 and 29-spline 8.25 rear axle. We'll have to figure out wheels/tires eventually, but it'll probably get 31" tires and a small lift, as well.

So the family Cherokee builds continue! Bring on the XJ love!!!

We got the "donor" 2000 XJ Limited home from the east side of the state a couple weeks ago; big thanks to my buddy Joel for helping out! Man, does this thing run nicely! Maeve is also a fan of the fancy schmancy leather interior. The premium sound system sounds great (tested it for her with a little P!nk).

The radiator is cracked from the accident, so we still need to replace it before running for any length of time. The stubborn "quick connects" on the lower transmission line are less-than-quick to disconnect...dang stubborn fittings! It's the only thing holding up the replacement.

We sold the wheels/tires off, as Maeve likes the looks of Ravine wheels better. We already have a partial set of Ravines, with the balance coming from a long-time friend who has one he doesn't need anymore.

No other updates just yet, but a replacement radiator is next on the agenda.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. They'll absolutely know the value of a dollar, and have some good wrenching skills when we're done (but will the Jeeps ever truly be done? ). We haven't worked on them at all this week with the excessive heat. I've let them retreat to the A/C in the house rather than work in the pseudo sauna outside. Perhaps we can make some progress this weekend.
