Good luck (and let me know how it goes) can't get my kids to eat asian food yet. Might be able to drag them in there if it's clean, and if they still feature americanized dishes like pizza and chicken.

If you like Thai, and can deal with getting more food than you can eat (but not being a buffet) we like Bangkok Peppers Too here in Fenton - sister store to the original Bangkok Peppers in Grand Blanc.

Usually get 3 meals out of it a single take-out order.

There's also a new link in the chain of Bangkok Cuisine restaurants in the WB at Orchard Lake and Lone Pine (where Cheesey Luigi's used to be) it wasn't bad at all, but it seemed like they didn't mix the stir fry oil with the spices well enough - different parts of the meal were much hotter than other parts.

I didn't care much for Bangkok Cuisine place. I was hoping to really like it since it's the closest Thai place to my house. Bangkok Hung on Northwestern Hwy is MUCH better.

I head out that way for lunch quite a bit (either Sushi Samauri or Chopstix both at Orchard Lake and Pontiac Trail or if I drive and eat quick I can make it to Smash Burger down at Maple) and I've driven past that place a few times and wondered how it was and thought about stopping in.

Even though TJJeep doesn't give it a glowing review, I may have to check it out. For somebody who likes to get out of the office and go out to eat, working in Pontiac/Waterford sort of sucks.

I have been there a few time, its not too bad, as buffets go. The aisin guys at work like Fuji, by Oakland mall. It seems more authentic than most, which might be more than some want.

Its rare to ever find any buffets that are anything worth revisiting.

I'll have to try that, even though I generally try not to drive south of walnut lake road - Maple occasionally - or rarely, I mean very rarely further south.

I ♥ Smashburger - but typically stay away. For a greasy spoon type of place, that takes cash only Jaw's south of 13 Mile @ Orchard Lake makes a pretty decently juicy philly steak & cheese, but that's not the topic of the day, and as I mentioned above, way further south that you will typically find me

I'm mixed on the authenticity of far east cuisine. I prefer the non-noodle dishes, and pick through some of the veggies (e.g. I'll eat the occasional bamboo shoot, but don't want eleventy billion of them) - love the heat/spice, but don't really want to have the food sweats if I'm heading back to work

my sister in law is 2nd or 3rd generation chinese depending on how you view chinese people that first stopped off in the Philippines (her parents grew up in the Philippines, and grand parents were mainland china) - she doesn't like her own native food - on the other hand, her husband, my baby brother loved eating authentic chinese food when they were in mainland china for 3 weeks.

regardless, I can count on one hand the number of times in the past decade that I have been in the Oakland Mall area :|

I didn't like the bankok cuisine on orchard lake They use too much corn starch in their food and it comes out looking like snot sauce.

a LOT of foreign cuisine isn't much to look at :p

Anyway, I had Cashew Chicken with extra water chestnuts added. My only real complaint was the inconsistency of the spice mix - extremely noticeable difference in heat depending on where you dug into - and when going to scrape the plate into the take-out box, a very noticeable difference in spices precipitating out of the sauces/juices.

co-worker had Pad Thai - he had no complaints

like a lot of places I guess, your mileage may vary.

Yeah, I am too. I go to Hong Kong and mainland China from time to time, so I get 'real' chinese food. noodle and rice dishes here seem like basic/peasant food there. Like what we offer at our workers cafeteria is similar to most basic takeout here in the US. All the nice chiense restaurants we go to over there are nothing like I see over here.

Is that what that was?

Have you tried Bangkok Hung on Northwestern? That's what I compare all new Thai places to.

I am rather picky about what and how much I eat. Buffets are horrible as far as quality' and your practly expected to eat more then two plates of food. The only benifit that buffets have is that if you are in a hurry you can swing into one and get something to go that is better then fast food.

Panrera bread is about the only fast food place I would really recomend

This is not a buffet but wing hongs express on Union Lake road next to dunken donuts is amazing. Their prices are beyond fair and you get enough food to last you 3 days. On top of that they actually have legit egg rolls, not the ones stuffed with cabbage.

I have not been there in years but there is a chinese buffet near Harbor Freight in Pontiac off of I believe Elizabeth Lake rd. If your heading down Elizabeth Lake road from harbor freight it is on your left in about a mile or two away. They use to have an awesome buffet, unsure of if they still do or not though.
