Are your going to make the next race even if the jeep "might" not be done for next weekend?

No, I'm skipping the May race.

Last week we pulled the engine and flipped the frame to weld on the suspension brackets. This week we put it all back together and then put the tub back on. We chopped the back of the tub off, and now we can figure out where the seats will go and how the cage will fit in.

I hope to make it as a spectator. Definitely won't wrap this up in 3 weeks. One of the bigger disappointments of the year.

A few weeks ago AlumCJ stopped by and helped bend some tube while I chopped the tub for boatsides.

Tonight JeepM715 did some more trimming on the tub done and set it in place while I worked on double sheering the link brackets since we won't be able to get to them soon.

We think we've got a plan for the cage and rear frame sections.

You have any plans for finishing for any races this year or are you just going to take your time instead of rushing/cobbling? Nothing worse than busting your ass to try and finish only to get burnt out and half assing toward the end just because you just want it done.

We will see about racing this year. There is a race a month from July through October, and one in December. Hopefully we can hit at least one of them.

A few pics before the camera became a PITA, so that's all I got.

Rear upper double shear brackets got done last week. We put the rub rail on the driver's side and then put a crossmember at the end of the frame rail. Next up is adding the final frame extension off the back and putting on a bumper.

It's amazing how much better the fab skills have gotten over the years from all the Jeeps that have been built.

Over the weekend I had just enough time to knock out a simple 48" wide rear bumper. We delayed jeep night until tonight so that we could work in cooler weather, and it was worth it.

First up tonight was finishing off the rear frame of the jeep. The frame sticks out 20" past the center of the rear axles to allow for a 40" tall tire to be run in the future.

The frame is 26" wide from the rear bumper to frame cross member. This is the same width as our fuel cell to give it a place to sit, and still allows the rear axle to come up on droop and not hit the tank. We some bracing so the bumper won't buckle too easily on a corner hit. Plan is to run a cross member between the frame rails where the braces hit. This also gives some room for the shocks between the frame and tire.

As we were getting the bracing for the rear frame in, AlumCJ stopped by and kicked our ass into gear on starting the cage. I cut away more tub while AlumCJ and JeepM715 bent the first tube. First tube runs horizontal from the B-pillar through the firewall. The lower portion of the B-pillar is tacked in place, but we have some final fitment to do to get it squared up.

Plan is for the cage to be 2x0.120 DOM for all outer tubes and the inner will be a mix of 1.75x0.120 and 1.5x0.120 DOM.

The hood and grille are on again. I had some time this morning so I decided I would start work on mounding the radiator. Damn thing doesn't fit. The steering shaft takes up space that allowed the rad to fit in the last build. Oh well.

The steering box also required some grille trimming. Still more trimming to go, but this allowed me to get the grille on with the steering box and steering shaft in so I could start to figure out where the radiator won't fit...

Added some bars. Can't see it in the pics, but we also tied the cage into the firewall.

Next couple of steps are making the lower A-pillar and connecting it to the frame and then mounting seats to determine how tall the upper A and B pillars need to be.
