Yes... Operation Take back Congress was a good one. Us Liberal, Tree Hugging Dove saving, Hippie Jeepers can rejoice.

Enough gains to put the brakes on the Right, but not enough to get drunk with power.

So instead of stealing and giving it all to themselves, they can steal and give a little bit of it to worthless welfare crack whores and gloat about how "good" they are. I wonder what it was like to live when the government served the people and not the other way around.

I concur, but also agree with Smasher except for the spending thing. The last democratic president had a budget SURPLUS if you remember. And to all who will say that that doesnt mean anything, it will when China comes to collect on the Trillions of dollars we owe to them. Who knows what will happen then. I feel sorry for our future generations.

x2 and corrupt ? compared to the dems? And it was easy to have a surplus pre 9-11 the economy was a juggernaut no thanks or no fault to clinton. It just was. Would we have had a surplus if clinton did anything about the first time the trade center was bombed? Does that even count in your mind as putting off action and we are paying for it now?

I cant wait to see what a great difference the dems can make and how all our lives are going to improve.

Bush would say that the economy is doing GREAT right now. After all, the stock market is at an all time high. What does that mean?

Perhaps! But there is some merit to a strong stock market/strong economy link. Dont you have any stocks CWH? If so, you cannot be too upset right now.

God forbid the "rich" do well, because it's really the "poor" that are investing and creating jobs. If we really want to move forward, we need to eliminate all of the "rich" and then we'd really have something.

CMU, you seem like a fairly intelligent kid who's purusing a business education and them you say things like this that show an ignorance of economics. I guess those bad things they say about CMU might be true...

It's slightly true . . I really don't think Bush gives a rats ass about the middle class and since his own family portfolio is on the rise then I imagine he's dumb enough to think that everyone in the US is doing good as he is.

. . . . and yes I do realize that the money from the rich that is placed in the stock market and other financial derivatives such as hedgefunds that really do some serious investing.

so . . . . just because I'm a business major does not mean that I can't have a heart for those that are getting poorer which is the opposite of the rich.

However, rising water "raises all boats".

Unfortunately, Dubya has little real influence over the stock market, oil prices, or the real estate market.

The rich getting richer and poor getting poorer is good democrat class warfare dogma. However, there are more "average people" in the stock market than ever before, largely thanks to Ronald Reagan's 401(k) program - something offered by virtually evey employer in the U.S., despite dire warnings it was for the rich.

Then there's the fable of Bush tax cuts favoring the rich. That's simple math. A tax cut will benefit those who pay more in taxes than it will someone who pays less - especially in a system with progressive tax rates like ours.

The poor are poorer because of things like NAFTA and the world economy. Ever notice how many fewer teenagers have jobs now than in the past? Sure, part of it is lazy Gen Y kids who won't work and overindulgent parents, but part of it is competition. Lawns are being mowed, papers delivered, burgers flipped, and gas "pumped" by 30 year-olds - jobs formerly the domain of teenagers. It's getting tougher to be unskilled labor in the U.S. - and after the collapse of big labor it will get tougher.
