Default Buying a car hauler

Ok,

So after my Jeep build it has really sucked not having a trailer. I am finally going to pick one up this weekend.

The one I have picked out is at Becks Trailers in St Johns.

It is a 18ft bumper pull trailer. I believe he said the brand was Legacy. It comes with 2 3500lb axles BOTH have brakes. Powdercoat finish, ramps store in rear of trailer. 83" between fenders ( I will probably have to do something about this) it will get old having to put rollers on all the time. My Jeep is too damn wide.

The MSRP was around $2800. He is selling it to me for $2,400.

I am wondering if there is anything I should look for, such as things to look for where quality is concerned. I want this trailer to last a long time.

Also has anyone had experience with Becks? Anything I should know before I walk in the door?

Thank you!

bought a trailer from becks it was great. one inline sled trailer and I loved it, it was very nice and I got it for a very good deal because it was a novi show demo. I know my buddy just paid 3 g for a hauler with 5k axles. Place out of grayling, MI, I believe it was usa trailers?

just make ramps out of 2x10's od 2x12's ( what ever is tall enough to get over the fenders from the deck) to go over the fenders, I did it and it works great.I put one but you could do two, I just cut them slightly taller and longer with a little ramp on both ends. I bolted them to the fenders. I hated putting on rollers too. All the weight of the rig will be on the wood and transfered to the deck.

Make sure it is a channel frame, not a rectangular tube. Tube rusts out. D rated tires are a plus.

mine is rusty on the inside of the tube, not rusting through yet, but I would have to agree that channel is the way to go.... also when its tube they run the wires in the tube which causes them to rub and short out quickly...well at least in my case cause they didnt run jacketed wire and loom, they just made it look like they did, it all stoped just inside the tube.

I just picked one up from US27 motorsports that has a single removable fender so you don't have to use rollers. They had a few 18' in stock and they are just a couple miles south of Becks. I'd say check them out while your in the area.

I have always heard Becks is overpriced on their out the door price. Check out USA trailers first online.

I bought a PJ buggy hauler trailer form DR trailer sales on US23/Plank Rd.

It's a nice trailer, has a few bells and whissels. And I paid for them.. It wasn't a cheap trailer.. But I love it..

Well the one I went to look at won't work. I really am looking for something with removable fenders and that doesn't have a lip going around it. They had one there that was a steel deck, no lip, rub rails, removable fenders, brakes on both axles. Just have to decide if I want to spend the extra money for it.

Did you try USA trailers in Grayling? I got one of there 18' Loadrite, wood deck, removable fenders, brakes on both axles, Between the fenders it measures 83" I made a mistake , It's Load Trail not Load Rite.

Tried calling there today. Couldnt get a salesperson to answer the phone. Does your trailer have a lip around the outer edge. I think Becks wanted to much for this other trailer, it was a touch over 3,800 otd.

Just checked out the PJ buggy hauler. Looks like a sweet trailer. Out of curiosity what do they run?

Wow!!!! I guess if you had a buggy to haul on it, it might be worth it.

It was the only car trailer that I liked that could;

A-Haul my Jeep around no problem or anything I use it for
B-Haul my dad's M38A1+trailer
C-Haul my dads full loaded M37 (7500 lbs)

Plus, its a nice all channel design, nice strong fenders (1/8" diamond plate), the wiring is by far the cleanest I have seen on any other off my friends trailers, where the wiring runs through some of the crossmembers there is actually a rubber grommet.. :D
It's the little details that matter...Very nicely build trailer.. Worth every penny.
