I have a d60hp from a 79 f350 and there is a web right where the u bolt needs to go should i just grind a place for it . I cant imagine what ford did originally

I don't see why a simple notch to hold the u bolt in place would hurt anything.

Ford used a bottom plate that was notched for the webbing and square u-bolts.

I drilled a hole thru mine. Grinding would work too. If you cut it deep the web will lose its strength.

just notch it where the bolt will sit. dont go any deeper than needed.
