Regardless, Homeboy looks like a nut....and if he looks like one he likely acts like one....so the officer shouldn't have any problem convincing the judge that he was acting suspiciously/strangely.

The outcome will likely be the charge of disorderly being dismissed, but even if they aren't it's a pretty lame charge. With that being said, the officer acted 100% within the means of the law.

As far as the "rifle zone" comment, it's legal to hunt with a rifle south of the line, just not to take whitetail.

Age (perceived underage), time of day (night), by himself walking down the street all would support a cop approaching him with questions. I'm not in favor of random stops but this is one I would support.

Stupidity like this just gives law abiding gun owners a bad rap and gives the enemy more ammo. I hunt with a handgun and can walk from my house to a recreation area to hunt but I conceal my pistol until I get there so that my neighbors aren't freaking out and calling the police reporting somebody walking around with a gun. Common sense goes a long way, the guy should be charged with felonious stupidity.

Actually, this is not common sense and is dumb unless you have a CCW. If you conceal it and don't have a CCW, you go to jail.

In michigan it is a CPL not a CCW. CCW is a crime that you are charged with if you are carrying and don't have a CPL.

This dude was asking for trouble, there is no reason what so ever to walk around with a rifle slung to your back. I do support and prefer open carry of my pistol, but a rifle is a fuckin joke. He should be charged of stupidity and sentenced to 30 lashes.

Well thanks so much for clearing that up. It was CCW for many many years and I have trouble remembering it's a different name now, but its still the same damn thing. It doesn't really have anything to do with my point though.

Thats a half truth. Its legal to hunt with a centerfire rifle below the line, except
DURING whitetail season. No rifles allowed during that time, whether hunting deer or not. Or so I've been told.

Open carrying is for people who cant pass a background check, and want to get shot by someone who is probably illegally carrying a weapon...
IMHO someone open carrying wants to look like some sort of hardass. I see this all the time in royal oak, some douche in a wife beater with some sloppy velcro holster hanging off of him with a pistol sticking out. I could disarm him and break the damn thing down before he even knew what happened...
If you want to open carry go for it, but don't be surprised when you catch shit from every cop around.

I open carry, but I am not an attention whore. I conceal carry whenever I am in a large crowd of people, or go in to a restaurant. I also am not a sloppy, wife beater wearing, hardass wanna-be redneck. I also don't catch much shit at all because I generally dress in a more professional sort of way.
