Well, went and checked it out after work today. The body really isn't all that bad I suppose for a 12 year old car, but I don't think it's worth $6000. This car blue books in excellent condition at $6000. The front fascia was messed up, there were a few dings/dents on the passenger side. The plastic rocker cover was also loose on that same side. When I looked under the car the sub-frame on both sides were dented like it bottomed out pretty bad. Then the guy tells me that that's from being lifted on a hoist.

So time to take a look under the hood, first thing I see is a newer aftermarket radiator that is ziptied on the passenger side and new radiator fans that were wired in with blue crimps and already corroding. I also see the coolant reservoir loose and also ziptied. Fired it up and took it for a drive, seemed to run pretty good, clutch felt ok, not sure how they should feel though. When I got back to the place, I could hear a slight squeal under the hood, poked around for a couple minutes but didn't come up with anything conclusive. Also noticed it missing the A/C belt for what ever reason, the pulley wasn't locked up or anything. And the ABS light was on.

And he had no idea if the timing belt has ever been done or the head gaskets.
So, not sure if this car is worth anywhere near 6G's

That car isn't worth 2500.

Mine was in all original type condition with some rust starting and some paint flaking. Zero mechanical jackaroo jobs. Bought it for 3300 i think. Sold it for 2500 and felt like I got a fair deal on both ends.

Exactly what I was thinking. There were just too many small things I didn't like.

Mine had a Stromung cat-back and it sounded fawesome. Not annoying at all. And I hate the sound of 4 bangers....the boxer makes it soooo much better. So does the whistle, but I know way too well what I do when I have a turbo to think it'd be a good idea on my econobox

I have had and fixed a few subbys, the most common problem is head gaskets. The most common hg leak on a 2000 2.5 is an external leak, look it over closely.

I'm looking for a wrx wagon with engine damage to repair, not hard to find, but allot of them are overpriced (IMO).. ....
They truly are over priced for the most part and any that have a fair price are gone in hours

IMO not worth 6K.

I was trying to sell my 05 legacy 2.5i for 6k with 142k miles (60 on motor). Couldn't even get a reasonable offer on it.

As far as pricing on used ones go, they are no better than most jeeps on pricing, particularly wranglers.

I ended up keeping mine, and just going to keep driving it and do what I want with it.

I'd love to import some stuff from australia. (offroadsubarus.com is a good offroad forum subie specific)

Sounds like the one you looked at was pretty janky.
