Default Project Yota Crawler

Well I started project yota wheeler...got a great deal on it, 3.0 v6, 5 speed, 4x4. started tearing it down, pulled the bed, and got ready to cut the frame down and 3 link the rear. Searching hard for a 8" solid axle to swap in, I'll keep posting as project creeps along. Just bought my first clarke tubing bender today from summit for 85 bucks... Exoskeleton is in the workings...at some point.

it compressed down to 19" which is only 6 inches over where the axle was with leaf springs.

i contemplated 3 links vs trigulated 4 link, and most say the 3 link rides better and articulates with less bind than the 4 link, and after reading a ton of posts the 3 link was more my style.

a properly set up 4 link will drastically out perform a 3 link rear with track bar. if that was the case that a 3 link rode better then you would see 3 link suspensions all over on the market produced kits.

im sure im not the only one who will think you will wanna maybe change the rear out to a 4 link.

how ever i am interested to see where the truck goes from here. where you at in alpena. im from up there. still have a place in ossineke.

Yeah the picture was with no weight on the truck at all, and a substantial gap between the bucket and the frame, looks bigger than it really is, I'm using the specs from trail gear, after about 8 phone calls and messaging we got the setup all mapped out, and the 3 link does the same job as a 4 link but when using the coils the 4 link doesn't let the axle drop as far-without ease...either way I'll stick with a 3 link.

As for alpena, I live on the north side (not the ghetto side near dpi/ford avenue lol)
And I'm pretty familiar with ossineke, we camp there in the summer.

Nice project.

I see you are looking for (2) 34x9.50's, I assume to go with the (2) you have pictured.

I have (6) of them, (2) nearly new and (4) used, grooved, abused, but with plenty of life left in them. I would trade the (4) used ones (perhaps + some cash depending on condition) for the (2) you have. I will be pulling my used ones off the rims shortly (sold the rims).

PM me if you want to come look at them...I'm on the South side..

Well I got it buttoned up, sittin on its own weight, and got the crossmember in, panhard bar set and all my brackets all tidied up. Needs a few tweaks and some brakes but all in all it's been a long successful day. Time for a brew

Stop in Brett's Auto tonight, I will be working on my buggy. A young man came in last night with 35 TSL SX swampers on rims for 300
