Change it twice by forgetting to put the drain plug back in.

I am out 350 ish days a year. When I come back around thanksgiving I turn the engines over I have on stands.
I start up the engines with starters and run them for 30 minutes. I Drain out the oil and put in new to avoid sludge and condensation.

I have always changed the oil at 3k no matter what. I degrease the engine/rotate the tires every 6k(or before/after the snow flies). I change the auto transmission/t-case/axle fluid every 30k. After filling up the filter with new oil and screwing it on I dump 1/2 quart down the fill and let it drain out to remove any residual oil sitting in the pan/engine.

I have had engines last over 300k and I am hard on them.

Change your oil every 3k and it will last. Be lazy and do it when the computer says and second guess. Just don't be crying when that pos starts smoking at 130k.

5w30 Mobil 1 every 7500 miles in my 2011 Subaru legacy. 5w40 castrol syntec in my 1.8t passat every 5000, same in my 6.0 2002 3500 silverado, but I do it annually (usually about 3-4k) always factory or wix / Napa gold filters. Cherokee gets whatever leftover synthetic in bottles from work once a year. (Usually 2k miles)

In 08 Ram, 09 Impala, 01 Impala, and 11 Malibu I follow the oil life monitor and use high quality synth (Ram, Malibu [Dexos], 09 Impala) and good synth blend in 01 Impala. Purolator Pure One or Wix Gold filters (Mobil 1 if I catch a sale). Generally Mobil 1, with an occasional Valvoline or Castrol full synth if there's a good sale price. Ram has always been Mobil 1 - MDS calls for 5W-20 which I've only seen as Mobil 1.

00 Dakota 4.7 gets "high mileage" dino oil (160K and wife's a hospice nurse who drives the wheels off of it) and a Pure One filter. 98 TJ gets Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 or K&N filter (sit for a long while, then 4 hours of e-way followed by high RPMs or dust wheeling). Vette gets dino 10-40 and Pure One. I can't imagine all of the leaks I'd find if I put synth in it.

i drain the oil and remove the filter. install dummy filter that i made which is simply an old filter that i cut open and removed the media from inside and welded it back together. add 3 quarts of cheap oil. run for 10 minutes. drain and change filter with new ac delco filter and fill with pennzoil. not much different from those "oil flushes" they try and sell you at quick change places except i'm not pouring acid mixed with shit they claim is oil into my crankcase then running it.

I change oil on my fleet.

Gas vehicle 5-12K miles until oil color become black it due. I notice that drive like asshole or manic will make oil become BLACK fast due excess heat from engine.

Older diesel with no computer controlled. 5-7K miles but they get thin awful.

Diesel with computer controlled. 5-6K miles for dino and 7-8K miles for synth.

Reason I don't change oil at 3K. It waste $ and I rack up alot miles.

If my numbers came up in the lotto, I'll just buy a new car every 3000 miles.

Wife's TaurusX gets whatever the oil change jockey gets out and does it every 5K. The FJ gets Mobile 1 5W-30 and anything BUT a Mobile 1 filter - the flowback valve does not work.

My Ranger gets Mobil 1 synthetic and a Motorcraft filter every 5K, and the CJ gets Amsoil diesel oil and a Wix filter once a year.

if I remember correctly, the manual suggests 10k on the Jetta, being a turbo that gets exercised to upper rpm's daily, I figure it's under "harsh" driving mode so I cut it in half, which coincides with how the dealer has the computer currently programmed - every 5k mentioned above.

In Deb's Ford, it's every 5k or so on a blend with some odd-ball 00-30 weight that Ford specifies if I remember correctly

the oil also cools the turbo on that jetta, EGTs get really hot.

buddy of mine runs amsoil in his 7.3 powerstroke, changes it every 15k. he sent a sample in to a lab and they said that it was still okay at 15k.

Me on the other hand change the oil in the pontiac mantana every 3000-3500, I just use the house oil at work and our napa 21040 filter (napa filters are made by wix) If i was running a synthetic blend i'd change it every 5k, full synthetic every 10k
