Now some people would bitch because they would have to pay more for their stuff.
It would still have the same effect, just less drastic as far as the impact on the economy. And you're right, people would complain. They will no matter what happens.

There is zero doubt in my mind that we are causing the planet to warm. It just makes sense, more people, more industry, more activity, things heat up. Think about when you are cooking in your house, or you have a few people over, it warms up inside.

What I don't know, and I don't even think the "experts" have a full grasp on is whether or not the global climate shift is going to be the death of us all.

I think the bigger concerns are over population, less natural resources, and the fact that emerging economies like China and India don't give two shits about the pollution they are creating so that we can have our nickle trinkets...

who buys their nickel trinkets? yes, we do. The american consumer could easily put their foot down and stop buying shit from countries that don't treat the pollution issue the same as we do, but we don't.

That's the truth. If everything I wanted or bought was made in this country I would have no problems spending more on it. But the problem has become that just finding the things you want that are made here is a pain in the ass and at that there are some things that just are no longer made here.

I think your comment about nuking the US is pretty dead on. This country has fucked itself over so bad time and time again I really don't see any outs. We are (supposedly) dependent on foreign oil, we are dependent on foreign goods, etc... We do nothing but consume anymore.
