Default aftermarket versus OEM Taurus fans - aftermarket any good?

My OEM Taurus fan burnt up last trip. OEM ones are becoming more and more scarce. Even the newest OEM ones are, at newest, 17 years old...... There are plenty of new, aftermarket ones available for not much more money.

For the guys running the new, aftermarket ones, how are they holding up? Do they cool just as well as OEM? Any issues with failures?

AlumCJ has a couple of Spal's that are very nice. Most other aftermarkets I've seen have not pulled as much as an OEM setup, both his fans definitely do.

Ppal = $$$$. I agree, they make top end stuff. Some day when I build a rig with a real engine, I'll buy the good stuff. Until then, this $30 junkyard fan is doing a great job of keeping my tired old 4.3 cool. Well, it did until the fan motor locked up.

Yep, another case of you get what you pay for when it comes to Spal. If I were buying aftermarket, I think I would only buy from them. Otherwise it's junkyard fans for me.

I don't feel bad packing a boneyard fan full of mud. Parts galore has 40 of them on any given day.

Chris, I'll check and see what I'm running. have 2 fans now and both are a bigger brand name. seem to work really well together even flogging the 6.0
