The cage is done, and we stripped the jeep down to ready it for paint.

Also moved the rear shocks out so they now mount on the leaf spring pad, we are hoping it stables the jeep a bit in the corners/ reducing sway.

oh and my ass gasket needed welding apparently, so alumcj welded it up

been there, done that when i put the cage in. what a pain that was.

if i was doing more then just putting gussets here and there i would take the top back off but its a ton of work and was a pain.

Care to elaborate? I'm curious since I might be doing that down the road. Why was it a pain?

it was my own fault partially. i cut the roof off and set the cage from out last jeep in there, then i installed the motor and the damn thing twisted all to hell. Trying to get the roof back on and some what straight involved alot of tie downs jacks and weight in different spots.

next problem was i have no experience welding sheet metal and butt welding all the pillars back together sucks. I ended up putting small pieces of metal inside the pillars behind the weld joints to help ease the welding process. i would defiantly not trust the welds on the pillars to help hold the jeep together in the event of a roll over. if i was going to do another xj cage i would build it with the roof on and then lower the cage through the floor for welding and then install the seat bars and what not.

paint it and make it blurry, you'll appear faster, plus it will be easier to paint

red makes it look faster. On the other hand, everyone will know it's you since no one else would pick that ugly of a color.

we painted the jeep, we were going for a more uniform color vs. quality but it still came out better then the old rattle can job we had.

its grey rustoleum shot out of a home depot 50 dollar gun.

If I had known you were going to paint it that color I would have had you paint my lathe.
