I rode there a few years ago, not a complete waste of time but I wouldn't go again though.

I wanted to go down there, but they wanted too much for a permit and you couldn't get a daily

we road trail 199 in the buffalo mountain system and it kicked my ass. i had a little off trail excursion about 2 min in and it took me 10min to get back on the trail that was 10ft up the hill from me. i struggled from there. i notice after we were done that we road it the opposite way of all the videos i see on youtube. it looks way better the other way. all the hard sections would have been down hill.

We rode it both directions too. Going up it is do-able, but wasn't fun. Doing it downhill on the spine of the mountain was a little sketchy but huge fun.

We ride our quads there quite a bit. Rockhouse is pretty sweet, lots of good technical stuff, and also some easier cruiser trails, but I've never ridden any of the single track. It's only $50 for a trail permit, which is not bad at all really, and it's good for a year. The permit goes on your helmet, so you can buy one and use it on any vehicle you have. Unlike Michigan where I have to buy $100 in stickers every year to ride different vehicles. In my opinin, it's worth the trip. We hardly ride Michigan anymore at all, when in only a couple hours extra drive you can get to West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. These areas make the flat, sandy, whooped out trails of MI kind of boring.

WV is a great place to play. The Hatfield/McCoy is a lot of fun if you have a side by side. Rzr's are an absolute blast!! I can't wait to go back this year.

I just got back yesterday. We ended up riding buffalo mtn. Awsome time! It must have been off season because there wasn't anybody else on the trails. We rode about 100 miles between fri and sat and maybe saw 10 other machines total. The weather was great, a little rain Saturday but otherwise 75 and sunny the whole time.

And FYI, stay off trail 97. I think I left some parts at the bottom of the hill.

was 97 the quad trail that was pretty easy untill it tells you to just hang a left off the side of the mountain?

That could be it. The map says its a trail, but I only saw it from the bottom of the hill, and then sky, then hill, then sky, then hill........

Apparently if you're brake fluid is low and your machine is aimed at the sky, grabbing the brake lever just pumps air into the system.

The main line down that hill looked pretty good, but there was a huge tree over it. So you had to go down dodging trees. I watched two guys in our group do it with both brakes locked up and picking up speed to the point where they could barley stop at the bottom in time to stop before going off the trail. i ended up walking down.
