What type of hauler will you be driving? I worked for united road for 8months driving a ten car sterling day cab. If you want to make alot of money you will have to run alot and get backhauls from the area you go into. I liked the work alot but the money was like a roller coaster, some weeks were great and some weeks you wouldnt make much. We got slow enough that they wanted us to go to the east coast for two weeks and a time. That is why I looked for a new job. I have two friends that are at union companies. They make good money but they leave out monday morning and get back fri or sat.

If your a good mason there's lottsa work to be had down south in the winter when it's snowing here. Especially if you know how to do stone work.

I come from a family of bricklayers and stone masons. I didnt get into it though. Looking back it was cause my dad was a total dick to work with but that for my own good. Ive been with a concrete paving company for 12 years. Main job is sawing green concrete. Got a class A cdl, run equipment as well as wrench and service it too. Just want something solid and year round now.

Ditto. Been there done that & do not want to go back. If you like to be home don't do it. If you have a traveling jones, then go for it.
