I have for sale or trade, Dodge front D60 external style hubs. Would like to trade for a set of front D60 internal style hubs from a gm application. Need ones that can be turned down so I can continue my project. Thanks.

Well haven't had much time to work on this project, but along the way I have learned about different things and finding out that I like what I am doing. So I came across a set of SRW hubs from a 14 bolt axle that I might use in the front on the dana 60. Still looking for some chevy dana 60 SRW hubs, but until a deal comes my way, I will try this. Also thinking that I will not even bother with the rear suspension until the front is done, by that time I should have the $$ to buy some more heims for the rear. So far I have just been modifying the axles and hubs. Hoping to spend a bunch of time out there on Friday.

Thanks akozman, wasn't my initial intention when I first bought it, but my brother and some friends left the pavement and went way extreme with their rides, so I need to be able to keep up. Toyota engineering is great for the road, but off road, need a combo of Toy, GM, Dodge, and some trial and error.(No ford parts yet )

Spring break is here, still waiting on parts though. Hopefully they'll be here before its half over. Anyway I'm getting some front GM dana 60 hubs today, then going to build my truss for both axles, then mock up and cut rear quarters out, then maybe cut front back to grill off, turn hubs down, weld lug holes and re-drill for 6 lug pattern. Goal is all done by Tuesday and hope my heims and brackets are here. Want to get as much done while on break.

Going to leaf the rear and link the front. After reading countless build threads on I8mud and pirate4x4 and weighting it all, I found that those who question don't try and those who are questioned find away.
Will post pics as things get done.

Well the hub guy was unreachable today and gas prices hit $3.99 a gallon, so the plan has to be altered, so I can wheel this year.

Got some work done yesterday. Fabricated some spring perches for the rear out of square tubing. Also fabricated some shackles. Put the axle under the vehicle and rotated the pinion up towards the transfer case out put. Spot welded the perches on and pull the axle out and then welded the rest. I also started on the front truss jig. Cardboard is great for that. Monday hope to get U-bolts for the rear and fab up some plates to bolt the rear on. Here are some pics.

Bolted the 14 bolt rear end up to the leaf springs today, F'd up the U-bolts in the process top plate was to tight. I'll try and rethread them Wednesday when I am back at it. Was able to get the drive shaft line and I am very pleased with it. Doesn't line up exactly left to right close enough. Put the weight of the vehicle on the tires and like what I am seeing. Hope to have heims in this week so I can link the front. Goal is to have it ready by Extreme Truck Challenge, It'll be tight.

Got some work done yesterday and tonight. Cleaned the outer parts of the steel rims I will be using, they are ready for the rings and paint. Also cleaned the drive flanges and hubs. Now I just have to pack the hub bearings with grease.

The rear axle is all but done; Received my caliper brackets from EORP and bolted them on. Now just need to add brakes, brake lines, and drive shaft, along with gear oil for the axle to be complete.

The front axle, this is going to take a bit longer. Started building the front truss, it is coming along nicely. Made a jig out of card board and traced it to some steel, then cut it out using the plasma. Used a bender for the bridge, that thing is awesome! With my caliper brackets, I also received the heim brackets and heim joints. Cannot wait until the FJ40 has a front axle attached to it again. Now back to some school work, here are some pics.

Haven't put in any long hours in the barn as school is taking most of my time. Made headway on a few things, axle housing is almost done, just a few welds, some light grinding, and paint. Most likely it'll be about three weeks until I get out to the barn again. April 27th the semester is over and after the weekend of fishing I'll have a lot more time in the barn as the summer class schedule won't be as time consuming. Also Mike has started his trailer extension so i can piggyback on it for most outings, thanks Mike!

Did a fair amount of work over the weekend, grinned and then filled and grinned some more on the axle, added some paint. Dismounted my Inner Air Locks and tires from my Aluminum Centerline Hell Cat rims, which are for sale, and mounted to good old steelie wagon wheels. Put the front axle under the 40 to where most likely she'll be linked. Added the wheels, rear is at ride height and front will come down a bit. Next up is the steering, have a few different ideas, it will be full hydraulic, either single or dual ram. A buddy dropped off a dual ram from a Hi-Lo, but still thinking about the single ram, it'll come to me soon? Anyway here are some pics;

This my first build and Mike's the guy that you guys can't beat so what better guy to ask for some help!

It's linked, the list is getting shorter, going to cycle through some flexes sometime this week, hopefully today. Still have to gusset some of the brackets.

Will post the flex pics once we know there isn't any binding. The PVC pipe represents the drive shaft.
