I really really am bummed I missed this moment. I hope hope hope someone has/posts video, even though it won't be the same.

Need working radios, was getting worried waiting for you at the pits...but never thought fire.

Was a great trip. Glad to hear everyone from MI. made it home safe. Defiantly a highlight of the trip was being at (Back Door) night party with the locals. Some of them just made it look easy. Now RCQ not far away.

Was a great time, my highlight was at Back Door during the night when the locals ran it....most made it look easy. Most impressive truck i saw was a mostly stock black toyota running KOH and he finnished the race (makes me think i should enter my toyota). Below is a link of him at the back door

During the race a lot of people seem to "struggle" on the rocks because they have way too much air in the tires for crawling so they can last through the desert.

right now a "replacement" is as easy as heading to a junkyard and finding and 351W from a F or E series from 1989 to 1996.

I am looking into a higher HP motor though...

it is certainly a fine line between tire pressure and durability. I was running 15 PSI in my maxxis and didn't cut a tire in the 90 miles or so I completed. There are some big cuts in the sidewall that I am sure would have killed a BFG or Goodyear (which were running 20+ PSI)

honestly, I love the fact that I have a $400 motor and can keep up with cars running LS motors. But, it is always tempting to get more hp when the opportunity presents itself...

Did you do anything to the motor for upgrades in reliability? Or was it a stock old ass motor?

Either way that's pretty impressive.

Offroad Jesus couldn't keep his motor together for more than a few miles.

the motor was rebuilt in 2002 (the owner still had the paperwork). Nothing special done to it except a good 160 amp alternator. And I put a new pan on it.

Not a racer, but I have been rocking the same for awhile. 200K+ mileage 96 351 roller motor bone stock. Love it, simple and reliable and takes a beating.

the tire pressure is a huge deal out there..the best idea i heard was the guys running portals and the h1 tire deflaters. they could hit a button and inflate or deflate there tires on the fly. that would be a big help if everyone could do that.

A lot of our trucks in the army had the ctis systems and whenever we tried to use them just to help get off the dropzones they seemed to be a pain in the ass and rarely worked right. The hoses are usually just hanging out there to get grabbed by shit. I'm sure they have a better protected system by now though.
