yup, frdtrckmnrich is letting me use his shop and im rebuilding the axles under his watchful eye, yes i dont know everything yet

boxes of parts

an open box of parts

5.13 gears and install kits in boxes

rear is a 14 bolt. got it stripped and ready for re-assembly

and shaved, didnt get too carried away, just cleaned up the webbing so it wont catch on rocks. in the future i would like to butcher it with a patch plate and make it a 13 bolt. but this is it for now

i hope to wrap the rear up the rear tomorrow and get going on the front

had trouble with the rear today. carrier doesn't want to fit in. i know it should because it came out of there we threw in the towel for the day and conceded, carrier won today. we will do battle again on sunday probably something stupid that is being overlooked, time will tell

sucess!!

turns out that i got the wrong install kit. all the parts are right except the carrier races were too tall. after getting the right races it dropped right in like it should have. disc brakes on and stock cover on until a real one comes in the mail. just need to get a new yoke and the rear is complete

next up is the front, which is already torn down to nothing pretty much

You can get solid covers for about $65 each according to Google, but the are cast so you might not be able to weld to it or on It if you want to.

I have a front "solid" cover, yep cast and its taken an absolute beating. My rear is a ruff stuff, but its a 13 bolt cover not a 14 bolt

You should look at my cast cover, I honestly don't think you can hurt it worst then I have hurt mine . I have LOTS of a deep grooves and major rock rash on it with no issues.

At the expo 2 yrs ago? I slammed that diff cover twice into the corner of a concrete block at full throttle and it bounced off . Only cover I have ever had on the 60. Only reason I would ever replace it is if I needed to weld to it for some reason.

I would run one of those covers, john has proven to me they are durable. Only reason I went with a ruffstuff was so u can weld a hydro assist onto it if I want to.

But yes, cast will crack before it dents.
