Default Taxes Suck

This is the first year I owe. Dual income with no kids sucks ass.

I was not expecting that this year.

Yup, you joined the rank of the DINKs. Even kids are not that great of a deduction.

Even with a kid we still claim 0 and I pay additional into taxes each paycheck. We almost broke even this year.

Anyone know more details on opening an IRA to save on what you owe the fed? I have an IRA but my wife doesn't.

Call Etrade, or something like that. They should be able to tell you how much you can put into it. Just check the fees before you commit to anything.

I did mine through my bank (bank of america). They are partnered or owned or something with Merrill lynch who does the investing.

I have IRA's for us and dump the max in each year.

That's a good thing. It means #1 that you made a bunch of money and #2 that you held on to as much as you could for as long as you could.

Dual income with no kids isn't the reason you are paying. We've been that way and never owed. It sucks to owe, but at least you kept that money through the year instead of giving the govt an interest free loan.

oh, and dual income with no kids rocks, tons of disposable income!

I know how you could fix that, but then I bet your next post woud be, "changing diapers sucks ass".

I assume we're going to have to pay in this year.

I thought income taxes were bad....then I bought a house. I wish my house was worth even half of what they say it is.
