Default Basic Dana 20 question

Hey All;

I looked through the FAQ, and tried to search the forum, but really didn't find an answer to this basic question.

With the transfer case shifting linkage disconnected, should I be able to move the two shifting rods INDEPENDANTLY through the high, neutral, and low positions, or do they have to move in combination with each other? Obviously, I'm referring to crawling underneath and pushing/pulling the shift rods with a tool. I'm having some shifting issues with my twin stick setup, and I'm trying to diagnose but I don't really know what "normal" is. I know some independant combinations are available, such as neutral front and low or high rear, but are ALL positions available at any one time?

Thanks!
AC

So nobody knows the answer to this, or it's just SUCH a stoopid question that no one will take pity on my dumb arse?

All I can say is that I twin sticked my 20 and no they can't be controlled completely independently, but I dont remember the details. Im getting my 300 and this confused in my head.

There are detents (pills) in there that allow the rods to only pull out in one specific order.

Thanks, guys. I knew there were detents (pills) but I didn't know if there were impossible combinations.

There are impossible combinations until you remove the pills:
