neat, but why make a motorcycle go slower by putting two extra wheels and a body on it?

Would be a fun ride. Wonder what that tank looking thing with the Dana axle in the back of the garage was?

I like the body work but I don't like the engine choice. That motor in a mini or micro car is kick ass. It just doesn't sound right in the VW. I would also guess that it's not all that fast considering he's probably dealing with 160-190 horsepower and no reverse.

It's a nice build, I like his tin work iniside. On the weird-0-meter, I would give this a 6 out of 10.

I would love to pick up something like this to restore. I've always wanted one. An Amphicar 770 in this condition is worth about $8000!.

If I had $50k laying around, I'd buy something like this.

I thought it was cool, until I realized you couldn't realistically drive it at that ride height without beating the shit out of it. You could hear it bottom out 3 or 4 times in that video.

I actually met the guy that does those refurbs. Very cool cars! He told me that he completes 2-3 a year and typically has 5 or 6 in different stages of restoration in his workshop.

It was about 8 years ago when we talked, but I want to say that he lives in IA.

I have been close to two of them as a kid. After a massive rain storm with lots of flooding, the guy down the road who had one came by and told me to jump in. We went through all the flooded areas around drowned cars etc. It was a wierd feeling to feel the cars wheels leave the pavement and start float. A shift of the PTO and we were swimming! I have lusted after one of these cars all of my life. When I was making $1500/week installing cable modems, I thought I had a chance. I even joined the Amphicar club in hopes of finding a car in my budget. Those days are gone now.

There are usually 5 or 6 of them that go to Back to the Bricks in Flint. Amphicars are freaking cool. I had no idea that they cost that much.

10k for a basket case, 25k for a nice driver that needs work, 50k or better for a restored unit.
