I do have more reading up to do, but why is it people hate smittybilt? Rust? Poor welds on the fabrication?

Opinions on Poison Spyder?

Smittybilt is just cheap stuff. Its built to be at a certain price point. I would say just like with anything on the internet take people's opinions with a grain of salt. You will have people have have smittybilt stuff that love it, people that have smittybilt stuff and hate it, and the people that have never owned it, but just like to be on the hate bandwagon.

The whole you get what you pay for saying fits this hobby quite well...to a point.

First off, nice rubicon. I like that blue color.

There's always a sucker to buy aftermarket parts you remove from your Jeep. So, think of the Smittybuilt and aftermarket parts as an investment into the real stuff

Everything I've ever owned, which has been a fair amount of junk, that was Poison Spider has been great and decently priced. I love their products and will continue doing business with them. I've had stuff for both my TJ and my JK and it's all been great.

I've owned a handful of Smittybilt items as well. For instance, many years ago I purchased some basic bumpers for my TJ. They were thick metal, which was good, but horrible powder coating on them. They weren't tire carriers or anything though so no welds to really break. These are the same bumpers that are sold under many brand names. I've owned a few other items though that sucked. Thin metal / poor welds / poor quality finishes/ etc. Just cheap stuff Much of it is also knockoffs which just is lame.

A good portion of the shit in Quadratec is Chinese junk. Support the companies that are american made and that are active in the sport. Poison Spider is one of them.

Don't listen to all the haters. They're just having fun but don't mean anything by it.
But do listen to all the haters that say support local MI based companies.

Welcome to GL4x4 and good luck with your build.
