The Dirty Red Panda (Lifted 99 Subaru)
Just joined and figured I would post my journel... not much is going on (funds are a smidge low), but a roof vent, headers, snorkel, higher lift and bigger tires will hopefully all be done by Winter of this year.

For now here is the latest modification that I had done at Thompson Racing Fabrication a few months ago.
The front has a brace welded to the inner fender rails, the K frame in the middle, and the rear trans mount in back. Fasteners are recessed, and made of grade 10.9 hardware. Plate is 60 inches by 38 inches 3/16" 6061 Aluminum.

a hole for the drain plug in that skid seems like a good idea.

in regards to the hole for the oil... I debated on haVing that put in, but after talking with the fab guy it was going to be a little more money (plate cost me $750 with all the mounting brackets and install) and it had the potential to catch on something. He builds rally cars for a liVing and said none of them run with a hole. Plus my last skid plate caught when I went airborne on the sand dunes and did some pretty significant damage awhile ago sooo no more holes or 5051 aluminum for me. The plate isn't that bad to take on and off. Once you can get one of the middle bolts in, it's a piece of cake. Oh and I take my car to an oil shop since I liVe in an apartment. The shop doesn't charge me an extra fee for the plate and giVes me a discount...:)

Ya it should be interesting. I'Ve only seen one Forester Strut lifted Impreza in person (guy rolled it on his rallyX track behind his house) and it was sweet. The only thing I didn't like is how narrow/skinny it looked. I want the wide lifted stance look if that makes any sorta sense lol.
That's a clean waaagon you got. Any plans next for it? I got some stainless brake lines for it if you want lol. They're for discs in the front and drums in the rear haha. Oh and yes you can delete the two air filters. Mine currently has an older OEM Legacy Intake tube and box on it.
BTW, that second Jeep you had was sweet looking! And L Bumper FTW!

subaru's are cool, that blue subaru is stupid.
I like your skid plate, but $750 bones, yikes.
I need a skid plate for my car, I hate how low the exhaust manifolds hang around.
I also need some struts if you happen to have any decent struts laying around you want to donate for a 99 RS
I like your car as it is sitting, don't go as high as the blue car, I do not like it, my opinion is the only one that matters, even if it is your car.

ya the skid plate was a smidge pricy, but well worth it considering what happened to my last one. I didn't mind making it rain for the plate.
I do haVe struts, but they are blown... HoweVer they are the rare ProdriVe bilstein ones whch means they're rebuildable for $75 a strut and they're ProdriVe...
Nah, I want higher... alot higher...
