Default Anyone know any places to wheel in Allegan woods?

I know there are some places in Allegan area to go and have some fun but don't know where the good stuff is. I know most of Allegan is either for sleds or the "Horse People" legally. UGH! So where are the "GOOD" seasonal roads?

define "good" you mean mud pitts? arent most of them closed this time of year for sleds anyways? There are a few fun hill climbs but 99% is all two track's you can do in 2wd even on a rainy day

No I didn't mean this time of the year. The area I mainly know is the 132th street area, I was told of some possible trails/two tracks south towards Hopkins. But that was four years ago

The best place for deeper stuff, rutty water/mud anyway, used to be where 130th intersects 44th. I'm sure it's blocked off by now, but that was a nice stretch that was REALLY unmaintained. It led to a cross street that would be somewhat challenging for most mild rigs. I know that my XJ with 33s and 7" of lift had water up to the top of the cut wheel wells some 12 years ago or so.

Jackasses really messed up what could have been a good thing out there by tearing up the woods and digging trenches that required tires larger than 35s. Last I heard the DNR was patrolling the land just aching to nail these people so be careful. Even without major challenges, its nice to get out there sometimes.

I will have to dig through my old maps and see if I can dig anything up for you. I used to go there mainly in the fall for the colors. spend the day driving and end up in some weird ass places. there is one trail that during heavy rains we found was a massive water crossing it had logs put down in the road for traction. and a few other spots that had some small sandy hill climbs more just something do on a saturday afternoon

I sub-merged my 77 toyota on 34th a few springs ago but, from what I know "most of the good trails" were closed. people mis-behaving on the trails is one thing for sure no surprise, and my buddy did get busted 6 yrs ago just creeping up a hill to prove a truck I had could idle up a hill in 4-low. He turned his head to back down and there was Ranger Smith! LOL! $80

For the most part anything "good" is CLOSED, but if you're interested in seeing what is still open and available pm one of these guys. Jeepardy or sachenard

Not really, unless you know someone with private property. Most public land is a no-go other than Silver Lake. There are many parks within a 3 hour drive that offer plenty of challenges.

Yeah the private prop is a given. And the lake of Silver... maybe this year. I tend to shy away from that accident waiting to happen... I've heard about more people getting hurt from friends than good times, not to mention the circus. Well..... I gave it a shot.

Dis-regard. If you ever get to experience West Michigan. We are RAMPANT with folks from the land of Lincoln. They hand out drivers-licenses over there.

What I was getting at about Silver Lake is that there are a bunch of fun seeking folks from the city of Chi-town that like to come to Michigan for relaxation; but they come to town and create Havoc. Silver Lake is a hot spot for locals and FIPS.
