Odometer light out, will miles show up on a scan tool?

Was checking out a F150 and the odometer display light is out. How are the miles stored and is there a scan tool that will display the miles?

I have the generic Torque scanner for Android phones, but vehicle miles isn't one of the displays.

The 97-03 had a solder point that would crack causing the display to not work. There is a fix on one of the Ford truck boards. I had an '01 Supercrew with that issue.
