Default 91 chevy tbi not running right

The 350 in my truck started acting up. It acts neither like its running out of gas or getting to much. It will start to sputter almost like its missing and not want to rev up. But if I put it to the floor it will clear up and start running better tell I have to let off the gas. I just replaced the cap/rotor.plugs and wires. Swaped in another disiribitor. And just put in a new coolent temp sensor and it still is doing it. Now I think it might be the fuel pressure regulator in the tbi unit. Any ideas. Oh the codes only bring up a code for a vehicle speed sensor low input.

I had similar trouble with a broken egr, actuator broke free and was stuck open. crap idle, crap part throttle, fine wot. wouldn't throw a code all the time and usually took a solid 10 miles to light the cel, sometimes not at all. something to take a look at.

I would try checking the fuel pump again had the same problem with my truck. Replaced the fuel pump and had the same problem a day later. Finally found out the main fuel supply hose came loose from the fuel pump so i put a hose clamp on it.

well i had close to the same problem in 88 and my 94 i used to have check to see if the gas is spraying out of the tbi unit in a cone shape if not clean out your jets in the tbi unit. worked great on both trucks i did it with.

also tip for the future if you engine runs fine for like 20-30 minutes and then acts sluggish change out ur knock sensor every truck i have owned from 88-94 has had to have that changed same as my dads trucks and over the years we have atleast 6 of them trucks here and they all have done it

I had this same problem. On mine, i would start it up, and it would idle fine, but as soon as there was any acceleration, it would sputter, and occasionally backfire. Changed the sensors, caps, rotor, plugs, distributor, nothing. Took it to a shop, to find out it was something with the throttle body itself. It didn't look messed up, but when they put a different one on, it ran fine. So, maybe pick up a used throttle body at the junkyard and see if it changes anything.

Have you tested the CTS? Even brand new there are a lot of them that are absolute junk.
