right, but that isn't the point.

These people need to take some of their own responsibility for things.

You have kids people, kids come before your own wants and desires, insure their belongings!!

Don't kill the messenger, I am just posting this for a friend of my sisters.

I don't know any of the info other then the kids are out( of everything), mother is out also but the kids don't know any better.

I was thinking of the kids in this post, what the mom or dad didnt do or what they did do is none of my business, yes i agree with what a lot of you are saying, but the kids are the most important thing.

If anything buy the kids clothes or toys if you want to help, this way it goes where you want it to, that is what My wife and I are doing

two points:

1. Too bad for the kids, but in many cases if people are tight on cash, they'll pawn or sell anything you give them or their kids to get cash. I hope these kids, however many of them exist, learn from their parents' shortcomings and someday understand how easily this could have been prevented.

2. I feel that gl4x4 has lost some of its willingness to give.

IMO this isn't the time or place to criticize the parents for their lack of planning. If you want to help out, awesome. If you don't, just STFU.

I was clarifying because CC had stated something along the lines of not being sure about it. I agree that they should of had insurance but we are in no place to judge, we have no idea what their situation was, for all we know they could of been barely getting by and did not have the cash for insurance. Unless we know all the facts i think some are being kind of harsh.

Way back when I was first married, we rented a 600 sq ft house in south Warren, drove a rotted to shit 74 Malibu, and scraped by as best as we could. We did not do food stamps or any other assistance. One of the things that was on the 'nice but not essential' list was renters insurance.

We had a fire.

Everyone got out, but my infant son had 3rd degree burns to his face. My health insurance covered most of the bills from UofM burn center, and it took me almost 15 years to pay off the rest. UofM did a fantastic job, you would never know he was burned.

While we stayed at my mother's waiting for the house to be repaired, someone broke in to the shed and house, stole my lawnmower and yard tools, the TV, and set another fire.

Landlord cancelled our rental contract due to me 'not securing the property'. House was boarded up, vandals pried the plywood off.

Moral is-

We are all still here. We didn't have $90,000 in belongings, probably wasn't even $9000, but in the end, that shit don't matter, you can get new stuff.
