Default 86 Toyota shifter stick

I have an 86 Toyota that's a manual. And the shifter stick is very sketchy. For example I can twist it. It sometimes will make it impossible to get into reverse or 5th gear. The stick itself is bent. My truck has a 3-4 inch body lift on it, would that have an effect? Can I get a new shifter stick? Thank u for looking and hopefully helping.

Pull the boots off, and see if the shifter is contacting the body. Thats common on body lifts, that the shifter will hit the edges of the sheet metal hole, and not shift right.

Did that. It was hitting. And its almost like the previous owner tried bending the shifter to make it work and fucked it all up.The little finger inside the top of transmission can now twist and turn. It will get into 5th gear and reverse, it's just quite the challenge.
