Default my 302 is throwing codes!?

On my 96 2wd 5.0 it always had light on from bad o2 sensor but always ran great. All of a sudden the other day it started to run rough at idle and also sounds like a lttle back fire if I give it a rev. I changed the o2 but its running rough still with a code of 401 and 306. An egr system problem and missfire on cyl 6. Where do I start besides throwing money at it with out knowing the cause. Thanks in advance

i did plugs and wires a few months ago, also is it possible for exhaust leak to cause problem? it sounds like my exhaust leak got a lot worse at the same time the other problems occured, i finally got under it and it seems like the exhaust leak is from the top of the front right catalytic converter

Check for any vacuum lines that may have cracked or broken with the recent maintenance you have performed.

Did the exhaust leak overheat the plug or wire?

i was not able to get the egr valve off yet, looks like ill need a stubby 13mm ratcheting wrench. originally i thought a 302 in an explorer was a great idea... that was until i had to work on it! seems like there is no room to access anything on this pos.

Take the EGR off and block it off that craps worthless, its like peeing in your own mouth if u think about it although then it would throw anoter code. If its not tripping a code for the egr i wouldnt bother taking it off but it dosent hurt to check.

Swapped in some junkyard parts, egr valve, the sensor on top of it, and the other round cap looking sensor. I also took off the end intake peice that the throttle body and egr mount to so I could clean it all out and still runs the same with the engine light on. I unplugged the battery to reset it but after about 5 minutes driving it wad right back on
