Default 94 explorer rear rotors pads

Doing the brakes on my winter beater. 94 ford explorer. Got the tire off and the caliper. Got the old rotor off and put new one on. The piston on the caliper wont compress anymore tho. Ive tried with c clamp, and vise. Any other suggestions? Tried wd40.

Could i need a new piston? Due to over travel? My rotor was about as skinny as a quater, and the pads were way past the squeelers. Just an fyi, i just bought this truck.

Caliper might be shot. Is the caliper still connected to the brake hose? Sometimes a collapsed brake hose will keep the piston from pressing back in. Try loosening the bleed screw then take a c clamp to it, if it goes back in, it's a brake hose, if not, buy a new caliper.

Rear calipers on Fords need to be turned as they are being compressed. If you look at the piston on the caliper, you will notice the two notches. Any auto parts store should have the compression tool for rent.
