99 Explorer sport 4wd ready to rock $2500
I need to sell my explorer to fund the next round of tuition. I would like to keep it, but so it goes. I am new to GL4x4 but I have been on xceedspeed forever so I know how buying and selling on forums works.
This is ready to get someone thru a Michigan winter, or a financial tough spot where you need something cheap that will just go. Post or PM me with any questions. No, its not perfect, but nothing in this price range is, and mechanically this is ready to go. Turn key and drive.
Unlike most of the explorers, or cars on CL for under 3000, this one is truly ready to drive. It doesn't need "little things" like brakes or tires, as some ads suggest. This is ready to drive for the winter no questions asked.
*1999 Explorer Sport. The truck has 155,000 miles on it. It has the SOHC motor, not the older OHC powerplant that is less fuel efficient and reliable. Truck gets around 18mpg driving reasonably on the highway.
*It has every option Ford spec'd on an explorer. Leather, power seats, windows, moonroof, locks, and remote entry, optional 16" alloy wheels, factory crossbars, cruise control. The interior has no rips or tears, but the usual wear and tear from an older vehicle. Good clean condition overall. Sunroof works perfectly and doesn't leak. Optional foglights that work. Power mirrors that work. New jvc stereo with cd/mp3 aux input. $200 not including installation. Works perfectly. Original ford am/fm/cd included with sale as well.
*The truck has a never used factory tow package, and a BRAND NEW never used Solid class III 2" hitch in the trunk right now. You can't find one of these for under $160 anywhere locally. Direct bolt on installation.
*The truck is in excellent mechanical condition for its age. In my time of ownership it never failed to start, let me down or stranded me anywhere. Perfectly dependable in all weather and conditions.
*Factory 4wd, consisting of 4 auto (2wd until wheel slip detected), 4hi and 4low. According to the tranny code this truck has a FACTORY LSD in it. Rare for an explorer, and something that makes it truly capable in all weather conditions.
*7,000 mile old Hankook dynapro AT/M tires in 265/75/r16. Please, google these tires and the reviews they have. Considered by many to be the best all around truck/suv tire. Purchased from discount tire, extremely little wear, they look like new. They are over $518 for four tires, EXCLUDING any mounting/balancing disposal. No off brand garbage here.
*New monroe sensa-track struts in all four corners, professionally installed.
*New pads, rotors and brake system work on all four corners done 40 miles ago! (just enough driving to bed them in). Over $300 just in parts, not including labor. Caliper pins greased and serviced. I am not going to sell a truck with shit brakes.
The car has some light rust on the very bottom of the tailgate. This is endemic of explorers. It is an easy location to touch up for the future owner, but seeing as all Fords of this vintage have this problem, it is a large part of the low price. Only affects the bottom inch of the tailgate. The trunk latch is loose, it is fully functional, just needs a diy mounting bracket.
I am asking 2500 OBO for the truck. Once you actually start looking around, its hard to find a 4wd suv without an immediate issue to take care of in the 2500-2800 price range. I am serious about selling, so if you are serious about buying make a reasonable offer. I am Located in Ann Arbor and often end up in the northwest part of the state. Please contact me via email or pm. Including "red truck" in the subject line of your email will make sure that I don't delete it as spam. As you can probably tell, I take pride in selling a truck that still has lots of life left for a new owner as a get around town car, reliable winter transportation, or a shorter wheelbase suv that can handle two tracks and backwoods driving while still having good on road manners.
