Since I live 10 min from Selfridge I hear and see them all the time.

The have a a-10 Warthog wing there now, but they used to have f-14,15,15,18's Not sure which one but it was one of those, those baby's were loud when they hit the go pedal.

After 9/11/2001 i was in a tree stand to be exact Oct 7th in the thumb and they flew north west over top of the tree i was in and I could see the helmet he was so low

When the chinook Helicopters are flying in and out they will rattle our windows

Ahhh... you are probably correct. They were banking a little bit in that direction.

The four of them were F-16's. They flew right over my house and holy cow were they load and an awesome site to see. I also watched them come back, two were in formation and then the thrid one was about a mile behind and the fourth was playing around just north of me.

I love it when I see them fly as low as they were today.

they fly up this way several times each summer...im told they are doing practice runs somewhere on the manistee river (something about the layout of the river and the high river banks) i dunno but we usually get to see them going up and comming back..and they are usually low as hell ....
i love it when someonbe who has never seen them do this ..the look on theirt face is priceless

how low are they flying?

probably one of the cooler things I've seen is a flight of 4 landing in a "carrier break" manuever. the pass over the runway at 1500 feet, doing about 500 knots, then they are on deck in about 30 seconds.

My parents have a cabin just outside Harrison, MI and there were several years on the late 90's where we would get all sorts of different aircraft going rather low over the cabin, and reallllllly low over the lake. Usually was A-10's, some Apaches, and always 12 Chinooks in formation. After a couple of summers, it stopped, and we never saw them again.

My favorite one though was when Dad and I were fishing on the pontoon over the lake, and one lone A-10 came barreling ass over the tree line, lowered another 100' once over the water, scared the hell out of us, then pulled damn near straight up on the other end of the lake, and was gone. I have no idea how low he was, but low enough that that plane looked HUGE coming right at us. It was awesome.

GF was on Selfridge for drill when they took off. They weren't part of the A-10 squadron, so I'm thinking they were just fueling up for the show.
