Winch motor help *Fixed*

the motor is a 6hp warn. Part number 68608 if it matters.

winch would not work in or out. tapped on it with a rubber mallet and it started but was slow. Had this problem before and knew it was water that caused the brushes to rust and not cause contact. I ended up taking it apart and it was rusty brushes. Cleaned it all out and loosened everything up.

Put it back together and now i'm having a problem with it spinning fine in one direction but not the other. In the other direction it goes very slow and heats up very fast.

I thought it was the solenoid but used jumper cables to jumper just the motor. Same problem. Anyone have any idea? I took it apart again and everything looks fine.

Edit: I ended up finding a photo of the motor online and saw that I put the brush plate in backwards. I guess it fits two different ways but only one way will let it spin both directions. Switched it back around and all is good again. Now how to stop water from getting in the motor ALL THE DAMN TIME.
