ZJ axle upgrade question

I am thinking about upgrading my front axle in my 96 grand cherokee to handle bigger tires and a locker. Currently i am running the stock LP dana 30 with tj shafts swapped in. Kind of narrowed it down to a few choices but wanted some more opinions on what i should run so i not replacing stuff all the time. Would like to end up with either a 35" mud terrain or 36" irok when done. Here is what i am looking at,

HP dana 30
'79 HP dana 44 with radius arms
HP dana 44 with welded on perches

I have already got a long arm kit for front so thought about making the radius arm dana 44 work but don't know how it will flex compared to a regular style 3 link front end. Any input you guys could would be great.

Thanks,
Ben

Id go with an xj hp30.

its a direct bolt in
much much stronger then ur lp30
most come with u-joint shafts
will work with ur current long arms (cost efficent)
amazing after-market support

my plans are hp30/8.8 for my zj. its a pretty common setup for good reason.

TJ shafts and good joints will hold up to the 35's as long as your not a lead foot.

Add chromos and your even further ahead. I think I'd add chromos before a D44 swap in my ZJ because of the cost.

hp 30 and post '96 shafts are the ones you want with 760 u-joints.

Depending on how you use your rig I'd say go with a 44 in front.

I was going to build a d30/8.8 for my XJ but I wanted deeper gears than 4.88 for my 35s and after I priced it all out the price for a bare minimum build with (traction aids) for a 30/8.8 ended up about $200-$300 more then a 44/9 because simply because I can run full spools in front and rear, vs a 30 you have to choose between stressing the already weak carrier(just what iver read) with a lunch box or go for a full locker.

This thread made me reealy want to keep my d30, but I rather have the deeper gears, and a week link in the shaft not the gears.(once again just info I've gathered)

What tire/wheel/terrain broke your D30? - NAXJA Forums -::- North American XJ Association

Long winded, but I just went through this decision over the last few months.
