Default F150 rear diff fluid

I have a 95 F150 XLT 4x4 with the 5.8L and 3.55 rear end that just hit 115k miles. It feels like the rear diff is making a small viberation whenever i hit the gas from a complete stop, or especially when I'm stopped and I hit the gas making a turn. It seems to drive fine and no rear end noise or clanking, but just that small viberation when accelerating. Could this be a sign that my diff is going bad?

check u joints, trans mount, and motor mounts. also check for play at the tcase and rearend. i hade a bronco with a bad motor mount that would shutter under hard acceleration

x2 Sounds like u-joint or mount somewhere. Get pry bar and jack up rear end Check joints and the start checking mounts.

Ok I'll deffinetly take a look. I read somewhere that the clutch packs could be sticking in the rear end causing this and that I need to put in limited slip additive when I change the fluid. Anyone ever hear of anything like that?

what type of gear oil would I need for my truck and how much?

Could be the clutch pack, but you may want to check the door placard for your axle code. if it is 19 then it was built with an open carrier and 3.55 gears and i would check the driveshaft, it may have thrown a balance weight.

My truck did the exact same thing and then spit the driveshaft out the rear end of the truck. before this all it needed was u joints and a balance job. after, i needed two yokes, 2 u joints,a cut and re weld, and balance.

If the code is B9, it is limited slip 3.55, in which case i would still check the driveshaft to make sure. but it could possibly be the clutch pack.

a great place for driveshafts is the place i work, Clydes Frame And Wheel Services in pontiac.

We have an entire section of the shop devoted strictly to driveshafts. If you feel it to be worth checking out, bring it down and we will take a look at it.

Will take a look at that all this weekend. I have a B9 I believe.
Does anyone know what type of fluid would be best? Like 75w-140 or 80w90? I already bought the friction modifier just need to know which fluid is going to work best.

I had the same issue on my ford and it was the axle mount.

update:
changed the diff fluid with 85w140 / motorcraft friction modifier and it seems to be driving fine now.
